Abyssal

Project Completion: May 2021
Role: UI/UX designer, UX Researcher
Description: Abyssal is a 2 dimensional side scrolling adventure game. It was created during a collaboration between the Digital Design and Development (D3) program and the Full-Stack Web Development (FSWD) program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). During this interdisciplinary project I worked with D3 students as well as students from the Full-stack program.
There were a variety of roles to take part in. I was part of the initial ideation process for coming up with the project. I used a competitive matrix analysis to compare the features of games within a similar genre. I conducted user research using surveys, then I analyzed and wrote a report based on those results. I also created user personas based on the analysis of the research I had done.
Tools used: Figma, Google Surveys

This is a collection of images and text used within the game's user interace.

This is a mockup of what I imagined the user interface would look like. This mockup was created in Figma.

This is the main screen the user sees after logging in and starting the game.

This is the game running in a browser. There is the health meter in the top left corner of the screen. A gear icon in the top left for the user options. The text box is at the bottom of the screen instructing the user on how to interact with the interface.
